How to Update Your Current Wardrobe for Autumn

Posted on: 15/09/2015, by @magnetlook

As much as we would all like to purchase a whole new wardrobe for the upcoming season of autumn, we know that this just isn’t realistic for most of us. You can be on trend for autumn just by purchasing 5 key essential items, without having to update everything you own.

Burgundy Bag

To inject some colour into your wardrobe this autumn, a burgundy bag is an excellent choice as it will go with the otherwise all black outfit I know we are all guilty of wearing. We see burgundy returning every autumn and winter time and for good reason – it’s a fabulous shade! I love to visit Zara to update my wardrobe without having to break the bank. Zara has some great burgundy bags, whether you’re after an on-trend micro bag (Messenger Bag) or you need a larger bag for work (Leather City Bag)

Suede Boots

Buying a new pair of shoes each season is another easy way to keep up with the trends without splashing out on an entirely new wardrobe. This autumn the shoes to have are suede boots. Suede is everywhere and has definitely earned its place as the fabric of the season. Just don’t wear it when it’s pouring with rain outside! Take a look at ASOS as they have some great offerings varying from over the knee to booties such as the ASOS RILEY Suede Fringe Ankle Boots.  These are a great seasonal transition piece as you can still wear them for the remainder of the Summer with cute floral dresses and then once autumn rolls around wear them with your favourite jeans and sweater to update your casual go-to look.

Skinny Scarves

Autumn is a great season as we get to bring out our scarves! This year the trend isn’t for our normal cosy woollen ones. Instead it’s the skinny scarf that’s making a comeback. Wear a printed skinny scarf with a plain tee or jumper to instantly lift your outfit for the autumn season. A perfect example is the Topshop Paisley Print Scarf

Big Buckle Belts

These have been seen all over the runway this autumn from Balmain to Versace. Wear with a shirt tucked into your favourite skinny high-waist jeans for an everyday look or over a playsuit or dress to cinch in your waist for an autumn party. The belt of the season that has been seen on many celebrities is the B-Low The Belt Bri Bri.

Hats

A hat automatically makes you look like you put way more effort into your outfit than you actually did, thus making it a great update for your wardrobe this autumn. Several styles are in fashion this year including knitted beanies as well as the classic wide-brimmed and fedora hats. Hats make it so easy and cheap to update your wardrobe for this autumn. Wear the Topshop Wool Fedora Hat with your suede boots and a floaty floral dress or double denim. Wear your beanie (e.g. ASOS Neppy Rip Beanie)with a pair of ripped jeans, a sweater and comfy sneakers for a cool and casual look this autumn.
