Tomboy, Buffalo girl, and Boyish are just a few words to describe the image of this new ‘Smart is the new Casual’. Smart and casual have always had a clear divide; you’re either dressing smart for work or the occasion, or you’re casual for a quick trip out or a stroll in the park. Well no more! These looks are now combined to achieve a more trendy, comfortable and versatile image.
Stuck at work late one evening, now there is no need to worry. The luxury of this new smart and casual look is that it works from morning, through to the evening. The use of oversized jumpers, cardigans, coats and shirts not only adds style, but also adds comfort.
Must haves are black ankle grazer trousers, or jeans, with a trench coat or piece of knitwear. With the right outfit the footwear you can choose is endless; a patent loafer or brogue, maybe a smart fashion trainer, you could even add a bit of class with a small kitten heel or stiletto.
Hairstyles which go with this look are low ponytails; these are perfect for a quick change with no worries about keeping it neat. Long bobs commonly known at the moment as the ‘Lob’ are all the rage on the celebrity scene. It is a great look for those with short hair. If the lob stays straight or messy it doesn’t matter, it is edgy and cool. Lucy Hale, Rosie Huntington Whitely, Jenifer Lawrence and Karlie Koss are just a few rocking the ‘Lob’ hairstyle at the moment.
